The most common moxa products are long moxa rolls or sticks of various diameters, short moxa rolls or sticks, moxa stickers of different sizes and quality, loose fine moxa and moxa powder. Other than loose moxa, there are multiple steps in making a typical moxa stick: harvest, dry, store, grind, filter, roll and cut. You can check the video, “How Are Moxa Sticks or Moxa Rolls Produced?” under my YouTube channel, Holistic Queen
They are all used in different scenarios. Clinically, I often use short moxa rolls, long moxa sticks, high quality moxa stickers, loose ginger moxa and small moxa on a needle.
There are also smokeless moxa sticks, which I normally don’t recommend to our clients. Pure moxa rolls are much safer and have better results.
