Moxibustion For Cold Limbs and Fatigue

A lot of people, especially women and elderly people, will have cold limbs. Some people have both cold hands and cold feet, while some others will have hot hands but cold limbs. The mechanism behind it is a bit different, so the treatment method is different too. Here I just want to mention about when both hands and feet are cold. It implies that the yang qi or energy in the body is not enough. Moxibustion is very effective.

I have many clients who have told me that they didn’t feel cold anymore after moxibustion.  Depending on the severity, some felt immediate relief, and others felt it after a while.

I have a female client who said she has always had cold limbs and has easily felt cold. About 2 years ago, she found out that I did moxibustion. So, she came for 6 moxibustion treatments in the summertime. As she was far away, she didn’t come regularly but only once in every 1–2 weeks.  And she didn’t come during winter.

In late July, she called me again and wanted to do moxibustion. She told me that she hadn’t felt cold or fatigued anymore for several months, even during winter, after the few moxibustion treatments I did for her during last summer. She felt very well. She said she started to feel cold again and a bit fatigued again, and wanted to do moxibustion.

Due to my clinic moving and the rearranging, I only did about 5 treatments for her. I gave her some herbal tea for other issues as well.

I have to say that everyone has a lot of health issues, even when he or she comes in for moxibustion for one particular problem. Unlike other acupuncturists who emphasize more on techniques for one problem, I focus on holistic diagnosis and treatment.

She called me about a month ago and told me that she didn’t easily feel cold anymore. She said moxibustion helped her more than anything, including Chinese medicine. She wanted to continue with my moxibustion. But because my new location for moxibustion was not ready, I didn’t accept any moxibustion patients but only regular clients by needle and herbal tea in another clinic.  So, I taught her how to do moxibustion at home to maintain.
