Cupping

Cupping is one of the other popular ancient Chinese medicine treatment methods by placing cups made of glass, bamboo, or other materials on specific areas of the body to treat different conditions. The cups create a suction effect that is used to increase blood circulation, help with pain, and as a form of supplementary technique for acupuncture, massage, moxibustion, etc.

Depending on how people normally perceive it, cupping can be categorized as dry cupping or wet cupping. There are two types of dry cupping. One is called fire cupping. Fire is used to heat the cups which will be then quickly put on the body. Once the air inside cools, the skin under the cup experiences a suction effect. The other type is called vacuum cupping. A rubber pump creates a vacuum inside a glass or silicone cup to facilitate suction. When blood letting is incorporated, it is normally called wet cupping.

Cupping is especially good for large area muscle tightness. It can relieve muscle tension through improved blood flow of larger area. It also improves oxygen supply and energy flow so the whole body could function better.
